New Findings about the Transformations of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Obděnice
During the recent reconstruction of the ceiling and walls of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Obděnice (dist. Příbram), illusive paintings were discovered on the nave walls, forming a single architectural unit with the coffered ceiling from 1891–1983. Restoration research in the presbytery confirmed the existence of Late Renaissance paintings from the era of Jakub Krčín of Jelčany and Sedlčany. The original form of the triumphal arch of a perished Romanesque apse was discovered. Additionally, the findings enabled a more detailed understanding of the complex development of the right window located in the southern wall of the Romanesque nave of the church.
