Reconstruction of Karlštejn Castle
A Hidden Source

Jana Pařízková Čevonová, Marek Pařízek

A unique depiction of Karlštejn Castle’s medieval appearance, probably from the late 14th or early 15th century, forms part of a previously unknown variation of the plan for the castle’s Lesser Tower. This version features fragments of wooden structures from Friedrich Schmidt’s estate. Although the drawing was not a primary iconographic reference during the reconstruction planning, it was likely used during the renovation of the corridor connecting the towers.
