RT Journal Article SR Electronic A1 Kibic, Karel A1 Mrvík, Vladimír Jakub T1 St Bartholomew's Church in Bylany, with the Choir Tower and Cemetery JF Památky středních Čech YR 2024 VO 38 IS 1 UL https://pamatkysc.cz/en/artkey/psc-202401-0002.php AB The article summarises new findings from the archival survey and research of St Bartholomew's Church and the cemetery that surrounds it.The originally Gothic church with a rectangular presbytery, the type that was being built in the region in the second half of the 13th century, was rebuilt and extended to the west during 1769-1771. Its Late Baroque form has remained except for partial modifications (the sacristy andstaircase). The tower above the rectangular choir (presbytery) is of special interest. Choir towers are rare in Bohemia, and as substantiatedby previous research, they are almost always linked to the activities of the Cistercian Monastery at Sedlec near Kutná Hora in the region.
