AB The article deals with the railway colony in Nymburk - the circumstances of its origin, its former appearance, its changes during the 20th century, and the perspective of the future existence of its remaining structures. The colony was established in the years 1872-1876 to house the employees of the Austrian Northwestern Railway that had a transport inspectorate in the town and an extensive compound with workshops and a locomotive shed. In its original look, the colony was an almost independent settlement for 800-1000 inhabitants with central supplying, laundry, restaurant, and later a school. The residential houses of office workers have survived as well as the inspectorate building, laundry, restaurant (school), park, and street network.
