AB In the mid-1850s, regional conservators were appointed to the Central Committee for Research and Preservation of Architectural Monuments in Vienna (k. k. Central-Commission zur Erforschung und Erhaltung der Baudenkmale in Wien) with Jan Erazim Vocel, a conservator for the City of Prague, among the first. Later, the Central Committee appointed the architect Bernhard Grueber as a correspondent for Bohemia to contribute to the activities of conservators. The Tetin locality in the Beroun region illustrates the conservator - correspondent cooperation. During 1856-1857, Tetin appeared in the viewfinder of the above-stated men during the renovation of the Saint Catherine Chapel interiors. Correspondence from that terrain inspection has survived. Bernhard Grueber developed an extensive technical description of the local fortified settlement. The aforementioned collaboration of pioneer conservators is not only a chapter from the monument's history but it also pictures evident differences in measuring, attitudes, and the abilities of the two figures - the architect Grueber and the archaeologist and museum worker Vocel.
